Get more students listening to more music on Spotify.
IDEA
Convincing budget conscious students to pay for a premium music streaming service is a tough challenge. Our solution lay in making Spotify synonymous with taking student life up a level.
We created an ‘always on’ programme, punctuated with flagship moments, to enhance students’ lives with Spotify everyday, delivered on campus and social media by our super passionate and influential Spotify Student crew, recruited from our tastemaker network.
The Spotify Sound Clash , taking place in term two, was the ultimate student playlist battle in which clubs, teams and societies compete to gain the most playlist followers to win an incredible sponsorship package for their society.
Hosted on the Spotify API integrated Sound Clash microsite, our strategy was to engage and leverage influential student communities across campus, with over 1,000+ societies competing
AMPLIFICATION
Harnessing the influence of our team of 60 Spotify Student Brand Ambassadors to engage the most influential societies on each campus
Influential societies and their members, would then further amplify the competition, creating a positive flywheel effect
The competition was also promoted via a paid social campaign and using student media partners The Tab

Organic reach of 60% of UK students
85% of students aware of Sound Clash had a more positive brand sentiment following the campaign integration of an ASOS brand partnership
